:: Course Components

At the outset, a dissertation or thesis focusing on current trends or practice in ophthalmology is selected by the candidate or on request can be allotted by one of the faculty for the course. six modules of teaching are covered over a five month period with emphasis being on current and cutting-edge practices and technological advancements. Each module, made of 10 topics is accompanied by an assessment, and the marking contributes to the final score. In the last month of the course, candidates are required to attend an Knowledge Exchange Program (KXP) lasting approximately 2-3 days, wherein experts in each sub-speciality will lecture and instruct candidates interacting with them on a one-to-one basis. The thesis or dissertation submitted will be marked and returned to the candidate during these 3 days. The final testing occurs a day after the end of the KXP. Attendence at the KXP is mandatory.

:: Course Assessments

Candidates are continually evaluated over a six month period and the final results are based on monthly assessment and performance in the final examination/test including marking for the thesis or dissertation.

:: The final scores are tabulated as follows:

4	Attendence at KXP program	15%

The total marking of 70% is essential for award of the certificate of the M. Ch. (Ophthalmology). Submission and marking of thesis, appearance for the final testing and attendance at the KXP is compulsory.
