M.Ch. Eligibility
Outline of the New M. Ch. (Ophthal) Course The all new M. Ch. (Ophthal) has been designed to recognize subspecialty experience in Trauma and Ophthalmology. This course has been designed for the younger ophthalmology surgeon with recent qualifications wanting to gain subspecialty knowledge as well as for the senior surgeon wanting to update his knowledge and gain an additional qualification. Open to applicants holding registered post-graduate qualifications in Ophthalmology, this course is run twice yearly from January through June and July through December, each course spanning 6 months.
The new M. Ch. (Ophthal) being offered by the University of Seychelles, American Institute of Medicine (USAIM), welcomes qualified post-graduates in ophthalmology and trauma surgery to undertake subspecialty experience and aims to recognize this period of training thus leading to the award of the M. Ch. (Ophthal), M. Ch. being the abbreviation for the Latin term "Magister Chirurgie".
A) The entry requirements for all applicants are as follows:

The basic medical degree (MD, MBBS, MB;BCh etc.) should have been acquired from a medical school/institution qualified to award the said degree/diploma and should be recognized and included by the W.H.O (World health Organization) in its list of recognized medical institutions.

The candidate should hold a registered post-graduate qualification (MD with residency in Ophthalmology, FRCS, MRCS, MS) or Diploma in Ophthalmology, Diplomate National Board, Diploma in Ophthalmology or equivalent which authorizes or entitles the applicant to practice ophthalmology surgery in his home country/state without restrictions.

The applicant should have completed, a minimum of 8 posts that is a period of 4 years in the field of ophthalmology, which MUST include rotations/residency/training primarily in ophthalmology and MAY include training of up to 18 months in allied branches (like general surgery), superspecialities (like neurosurgery or plastic surgery) or subspecialties (like pediatric ophthalmology) including fellowships.
